Before You Go To The Dog Park (four week course)
For friendly or overly-friendly dogs
Dog parks are often a good way to exercise and socialize your dog. Learning appropriate dog park etiquette is essential in keeping the experience enjoyable for you and your dog.
A well-socialized dog should be polite rather than overly friendly and avoid conflict whenever possible. They should be able to deliver warnings and reprimands that set boundaries safely and respond promptly to their owners direction.
Owners will learn to correctly interpret body language and interrupt high arousal. The use of our unique Gentle cue can quickly defuse volatile situations. Combining the Gentle cue with a reliable recall will ensure you a continued benefit of the many off-leash areas in Ottawa.
This class highlights:
- Learn good social skills for interacting at an off-leash park
- Learn how to identify and defuse potential problems
- Become aware of your legal rights and responsibilities
- Learn how to interpret and respond to canine body language
